Receiving Spring

soothing
expanding
head lifting
nature

of green
tousled wild grasses
and righteous weeds
declaring

of yellow mustard
black-eyed susans
purple lupine and
swollen cactus

of bluebirds prancing
hawks floating
swallows plunging
towhees rummaging

of clouds opulent
held by sky
zealous blue
glimmers of clarity

of layered hills
in sunlight
and shadows
made glad by rain

all kissing
each eyelid
an evoker
of good

kindly
covering
drought
and loss
